I believe my unit on One-Digit Addition captures effective planning, instruction, assessment and reporting practices. I made several revisions to the plan before implementation to ensure I was meeting students at an accessible place. This unit involved a large amount of Formative Assessment, meaning it shifted to capture all levels and create an inclusive learning environment. I really enjoyed doing ESTI Mysteries with my class during our Addition unit! These are quick and engaging activities that promote number sense, mental math and the ability to make reasonable estimates. The students loved them. I loved them. It was a win-win! I would recommend any teacher, new or experienced, try these with your class. They are available for all grades and levels of difficulty.
